Opening Doors to An Active Life for People Over 50

Our 1:1 service can provides the support a person needs to get back on their feet and prevent loneliness and social exclusion.

The help on offer includes

• A friendly person to chat to about the 160+ opportunities for learning and leisure available with Open Age and help identifying suitable activities :
• 1:1 confidence building support and encouragement.
• Accompaniment to first session/sessions until the person is established in a group and comfortable attending on their own.
• Contact that is suited to the needs of the person (including home visits, phone calls and meetings in the community)
• Advice regarding transport options and schemes for people unable to walk great distances and where bus services are inadequate.
• Information relating to the range of community services available to older people and providing a link to these services.
• Recruitment of Volunteer champions over 50 years of age to provide ongoing peer support.

If you know someone or are worried that a friend/family member may be stuck at home all of the time and cut off from the community you can also call on the number above or send an email to one of the workers
